| One of
the most dramatic opening holes in Northern California, the 521-yard par-5 first hole starts with
an elevated tee shot that carries over Junipero Serra Boulevard before reaching the fairway
75 feet below. A large fairway bunker on the left side invites any stray or short drives,
but shouldn't come into play for longer hitters. | |
| The green is reachable with two solid shots, but
the green is well protected by bunkers that guard each side.
Those who choose to lay up
should note the location of the fairway bunker on the left, which is still 65 yards from the center of the
green. | |
 | | This green will receive high shots well, so take dead aim at the flagstick with your approach.
The putting surface is one of the largest on the course, so beware of the dreaded 3-putt. |
