This
is the hole that players remember most when discussing their rounds at Stanford Golf
Course with friends. The 12th features everything you'd want in a world-class
par-4--or maybe not! The longest par-4 on the course at 473 yards from the tips (the hole plays as a par-5 from both the white and blue tees),
placement of the elevated tee shot is everything, as the large oak trees in the center
of the fairway provides a substantial hindrance. The shortest distance to the hole
is to the right of the tree, but there's not much fairway to work with on that side,
and it's a lateral water hazard if you're too far right.Your second shot will likely call for a long iron or a fairway wood. If you don't have the oak tree to deal with, you're not out of the woods yet. Don't be fooled by the bunker that fronts the right side of the green. It actually lies deceptively 65 yards before the putting surface. There's also a huge bunker that blankets the entire left side of the green. The large green allows for several different pin locations, the most being in the back left. There's a crown in the middle of the green that makes run-up shots to a back
pin location near impossible. Play for a par on #12 and consider yourself lucky if you accomplish it.
