The
last par-3 on the course is arguably the most difficult. With two separate teeing grounds
and multiple pin placements, the hole rarely plays the same length twice. The most
difficult and lengthy setup is when the pin is back left and the hole is playing from the
upper tee. With any headwind, the player will be forced to use a long iron or even a
fairway wood, making it very difficult to stop the ball anywhere near the pin.
There is a deep bunker immediately in front of the green that is filled with soft, deep
sand. Any shot that lands inside is likely to result in a plugged lie, making saving par
nearly impossible. A bailout shot to the right of the green should result in the ball
rolling downhill back towards it, but it will stop in a gully before reaching the putting
surface.
The green slopes from back right to front left, and there's a significant tier that runs
from front to back, separating the green into two distinct sections. Par at the 17th
usually wins the hole.
