Take
a brief pause on the 18th tee to observe your surroundings. You're about to conclude you
round at the Stanford Golf Course, and the view offers plenty to reflect upon. On clear
day you can see all the way to the San Francisco skyline. But don't relax too long, as
the closing hole will certainly require all of your attention.
The tee shot is all downhill and requires a big hit to ensure a shot at the green in
regulation. The trickiest part of the hole is the second shot, which more than likely
will be from a downhill lie. Those uncomfortable with downhill shots may want to consider
laying up on the tee shot to aim for more level terrain, but that choice will leave
200-220 yards to the putting surface.
The area around the green features two enormous bunkers, with the one on the right
deep enough to swallow golfers for days. A sand save on this hole is worth a
post-round cold beverage at The Grill!
